Anja Kathrin Jaehne, M.D., received her MD from the Alexander Humboldt University/ Free University of Berlin, Germany. She started her training in anesthesia and critical care medicine at the Carl Thiem Klinikum in Cottbus Germany before moving to New Zealand and finally to the United States. In the U.S. she is working as a senior clinical research coordinator at the Department of Emergency Medicine of Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. Her research focuses on the early recognition of severe sepsis and shock in patients presenting to the Emergency Department and during their intensive unit care leading to various peer reviewed publications and abstract presentations. Dr Jaehne is member of the Henry Ford Hospital and Henry Ford Health System Sepsis Steering committee and elected member of the Institutional Review Board of Henry Ford Heath System. Additionally, she is assisting with surgical research at a rural critical access hospital in Iron River, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan focusing on evaluation and treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease with minimal invasive approaches.
