Ali Tabatabai, MD. Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Program in Trauma, University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Tabatabai has served as the Medical Director for the Adult Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program at the University of Maryland since April 2021. He has also served as the Medical Director for the Lung Rescue Unit (ECMO Unit) and the Biocontainment Unit/Team since February 2020.
Dr. Tabatabai graduated the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2004, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2007. He completed his fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2009. He later completed a second Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2018. He holds certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine, in Neurocritical Care from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties, and in Critical Care Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Tabatabai's active areas of research include ECMO, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, SARS-CoV-2 and COVID, Medical Education, and Simulation Education.
