Matthew P. Malone, MD
Dr. Matt Malone is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and practices at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR. Dr. Malone joined The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Children's Hospital in 2016 and currently works as a pediatric intensivist and sedation provider. Prior to joining UAMS, he attended medical school at The University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. He subsequently completed fellowship training in PCCM at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. He is board-certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, General Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine. He is an active member of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators.
Dr. Malone serves as the Patient Safety Officer for the Arkansas Children's healthcare system, as well as the PCCM Fellowship Associate Program Director, PICU Resident Rotation Director, PICU Simulation Director, and is the Associate Medical Director and Education Director of the ECMO Program at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He is also involved nationally with ELSO’s Education Committee. His medical interests include ECMO, graduate medical education, bioethics, interprofessional education through high-fidelity simulation, renal replacement therapies, cardiopulmonary interactions, clinical research, and quality/processes improvement metrics. His personal interests include his amazing family of five, college football, philosophy, camping, and American/international soccer.
