This bonus CE session is scheduled for 2 hours. This session will cover pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic models used for beta-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring in critically ill and injured patients. Speakers will describe how these models predict and affect clinical outcomes. The session will also focus on implementation of these dose optimization strategies, starting from a system/institutional level and ending with implementation of beta-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring at the bedside, including incorporation into daily therapeutic plans with the multidisciplinary critical care team.

Learning Objectives:

Describe existing pharmacokinetic models used for beta-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring in critically ill patients
Identify pharmacokinetic targets to improve clinical outcomes in critically ill patients receiving beta-lactam antibiotics
