Pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS) is a manifestation of severe lung injury with a mortality rate of up to 35%. Despite this significance of PARDS in critically ill mechanically ventilated children, respiratory management remains largely supportive, with no data to support one approach over another. This session will highlight advances in the understanding of PARDS by relating experimental models to clinical experience.
