This session will provide an evidence-based approach to the indication, use, type, and monitoring of anticoagulation in critically ill patients requiring extracorporeal life support (ECLS). Speakers will discuss relevant controversies of the various treatment options.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss the evidence and controversies surrounding anticoagulation during extracorporeal life support (ECLS)
Formulate an algorithmic approach to the use of anticoagulation for patients receiving ECLS
Review the serologic monitoring required for ECLS
