Dr. Brittany D. Bissell, PharmD, PhD, BCCCP is a clinical pharmacist in the Pulmonary/Medical Intensive Care Unit at UK HealthCare. She is also the current Assistant Program Director for the University of Kentucky Critical Care Pharmacy Residency.
Dr. Bissell is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), where she serves on the Scientific Review Committee and is incoming chair for the 2022-2023 year. She remains active in the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology Section and leads the research database charge within the research committee. She is also the trainee liaison for the Women's KEG.
Dr. Bissell previously led a group of pharmacists who drafted a policy change which was ultimately accepted by the American Pharmacist Association House of Delegates and led a petition for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy regarding sexual harassment within the clinical pharmacy. Dr. Bissell authored a paper calling for action surrounding gender inequality in pharmacy while also leading several podcasts surrounding sexual harassment in pharmacy. She has moderated harassment seminars locally, assisted with sexual harassment resolution requests to several professional societies, and founded an institutional residency committee on anti-harassment, civility, inclusion, and diversity. Dr. Bissell is passionate about mentoring and fostering relationships with women in critical care and pharmacy.
