Dr. Bhalala is currently an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Research Advisor and Pediatric and Cardiac Intensivist at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. Dr. Bhalala completed his medical education at Seth G. S. Medical College, University of Bombay – one of the top medical schools in India. He completed pediatric residency in Bombay, India and also at Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. Subsequently he trained in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia – the top children’s hospital in the US. He worked as an Assistant Professor in anesthesiology and critical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital for 4 years and Assistant Professor and Director of Research at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio, Baylor College of Medicine for 6 years before moving to Corpus Christi as research leader (Physician Advisor for Research) for Driscoll Health System . Since 2010, he has served as chair of multiple sections and committees of The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and SCCM Baltimore and Texas Chapters. Under his leadership, SCCM In-Training Section initiated highly successful and popular In-Training Session and Critical Crosstalk at SCCM annual congress. Within the SCCM research section, he has been instrumental in launching the research mentor-mentee program for the society. In his role as research leader at Driscoll and for SCCM, Dr. Bhalala would like to continue to contribute to the growth of the research locally, nationally and internationally. He is a world expert in resusucitaiton and simulation and he would like to leverage his extensive network within SCCM pediatric and in-training sections, discovery network and international simulation society to foster the multidisciplinary involvement within the Society.
