Xiaofeng Jia, M.D., M.S., Ph. D., FCCM is the Professor with Tenure in the Department of Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Anatomy Neurobiology, the Director of Neurosurgical Research, and the Director of the Translational Neuroengineering and Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He is a fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM), the Chair of the Research Section, a member of the Discovery Steering Committee, and the Discovery Oversight Committee, Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). He is a member (basic science) of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS) and the Journal of Translational Critical Care Medicine, and the special issue guest editor for the Frontiers in Immunology, Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, IJMS, and BioMed Research International. His current research interests include brain monitoring and therapeutic hypothermia; brain recovery after cardiac arrest, stem cell therapy, and peripheral nerve injury and regeneration.
Dr. Jia has been serving as a Chartered Member of the NIH ANIE study section and an Adhoc member of eight NIH study sections, the Department of Veterans Affairs Research and Development Service; National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Program and General Programs; EUROPEAN COMMISSION Research Executive Agency; United Kingdom Medical Research Council; French Agence Nationale de la Recherche; Singapore National Medical Research Council; Hong Kon Research Grants Council; American Heart Association; SCCM; et al. Dr. Jia has been a PI on multiple grants including three NIH RO1s. He has published 140+ peer-review journal papers (90+ of them as the first/corresponding author), with 130+ platform presentations and invited presentations.
