Dr. Marian Von-Maszewski (Muh-shev-ski) has lived in the Houston, Texas area since birth which means that she has spent a lifetime preparing and living through tropical weather. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Critical Care at MD Anderson Cancer Center, caring for the most severely ill patients in the institution. She recognized that continuity of care for these patients is imperative in the entire spectrum of emergency situations and developed an emergency preparedness program for that unit. She joined the Incident Command system for the institution shortly before Hurricane Harvey and served as the Incident Commander for that storm. In 2018, she was named the first Emergency Readiness Officer for the institution and leads the clinical portion of the emergency preparedness program in the inpatient and outpatient environments.
