Benjamin Scott, MD is Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care and Medical Director of Anesthesia Informatics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. A graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Scott completed residency and fellowship training in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurocritical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Scott’s extensive experience in telecritical care includes founding the University of Colorado’s Virtual ICU and Virtual Health Center. As a member and Chair of the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Telecritical Committee, he founded a multi-institutional collaborative telecritical care network, and has represented SCCM in a multi-institution application for CPT codes for telemedicine intensive care services and in national discussions surrounding crisis standards of care during the COVID-19 national public health emergency. In 2018 Dr. Scott was appointed to an SCCM task force on the application of telemedicine to disasters which led to his integral role in designing what would become the National Emergency Telecritical Care Network.
