Dr. Thompson Bastin is a MICU critical care pharmacy specialist and Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She received her undergraduate degree in Human Psychology from the College of Charleston, followed by PharmD training at the Medical University of South Carolina, and PhD training in Clinical and Translational Research through the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. Following residency training, she completed Post-Graduate training in hospital pharmacy (PGY1), and specialized training in Critical Care (PGY2), at the University of Kentucky, and obtained board certification in Critical Care Pharmacotherapy. Her current research involves pharmacokinetic monitoring of beta-lactam antibiotics and development of novel AKI prediction models in critically ill septic patients. Dr. Thompson Bastin serves on national and international committees related to the improvement of critical illness outcomes. Outside of work, Dr. Thompson Bastin enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening. Dr. Thompson Bastin is a USDF Bronze Medalist, and enjoys the challenging yet rewarding journey of pursuing the USDF Gold Medal in dressage.
