I am a pulmonologist and intensivist with a board certification in clinical informatics. I am a former fellow at the Center for the Study of Healthcare Provider Behavior--a joint program between UCLA, VA HSR&D, RWJ Clinical Scholars and RAND Corporation. There I learned to understand the healthcare system and trained with wonderful faculty in methods ranging from anthropology, informatics, quality improvement and policy – all of which are guided towards changing behaviors. A key project was to understand and overcome conflict around end of life care in the ICU, using human centered design.
I am currently an Associate Professor at National Jewish Health. I have experience staffing patients in over 40 hospitals, providing vast opportunities to work through team and safety issues. More recently, I created our Critical Illness Recovery Center and directed an ICU at an affiliate hospital.
