Dr. Krishnan Sriram, MD FCCM FRCS(C) FACS is currently a Tele-Intensivist with the U. S. Veterans Affairs Tele-Medicine service, at Chicago, USA.
Dr. Sriram is a graduate of Madras Medical College in India (1974), junior residency years at the erstwhille Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, and completed his surgical residency at the Chicago Medical School (1976-1979). He stayed on as a faculty(1979-1990) with clinical responsibilities in general surgery, trauma, endoscopy , critical care and nutrition support.
He is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, as well as nutrition. He spent over a decade in India in the 1990s as an honorary professor of surgery, surgical critical care and nutrition, at which time he founded the Indian Society of Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition, and was one of the earliest organizers of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Until 2004, Dr Sriram was the Division Chair & Fellowship Program Director of Surgical Critical Care, as well as Director, Nutrition Support Team at Stroger Cook County Hospital, Chicago, with a faculty position of Associate Professor of Surgery at Rush University.
Dr Sriram is a member of various societies and serves on the editorial boards of several journals. Dr Sriram has conducted educational programs in critical care nutrition for several decades. His main interests in clinical research include early enteral feeding, oral nutritional supplements, micronutrients, and team building, & more recently tele-medicine technology for nutrition education and patient care, areas in which he has several publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
