Lori Shutter, MD, FCCM, FNCS, is a neuro-intensivist and Professor in the Departments of Critical Care Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where she serves as Vice Chair of Education; Director, Multidisciplinary Critical Care and Neurocritical Care Fellowship Training Programs; and Division Chief, Neurocritical Care. She earned her MD from Emory University, completed Internship at University of Alabama and Neurology residency at Emory University. Her Rehabilitation Research fellowship was completed at University of Pennsylvania, and Critical Care training at Loma Linda University. Dr. Shutter’s research focuses on traumatic brain injury and advanced neuro-monitoring, and she is active in development of clinical guidelines related to neurocritical care. She has published over 150 research papers, guidelines and book chapters. Her academic honors include the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award (2008) and Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Fellowship (2015). She currently serves on the American College of Critical Care Medicine Board of Regents.
