My name is John Berkenbosch, MD, FCCM and I am a Pediatric Critical Care Physician in the "Just For Kids" Critical Care Center at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY as well as a Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Louisville. I completed my medical training in 1993 at the University of Calgary, (Calgary, AB, Canada) after which I completed a Pediatric residency at theUniversity of Alberta (Edmonton AB, Canada) and a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Montreal Children's Hospital (Montreal, QC, Canada). I have been on staff in Louisville since 2004. My research interests are primarily focussed on device evaluations and sedation and analgesia in the PICU although I also mentor many of our Pediatric Critical Care fellows in their own research endeavors. I served as co-chair of the SCCM sedation and analagesia task force and am a co-author for the recently published 2022 Society of Critical Care Medicine Clinical Practice Guidelines in the Prevention and Management of Pain, Agitation, Neuromuscular blockade, and Delirium in Critically Ill Pediatric Patients with Consideration of the ICU Environment and Early Mobility.
