Dr. Deborah Kuhls is a trauma and critical care surgeon at UMC’s Adult and Pediatric Trauma Centers, is Professor of Surgery and Assistant Dean for Research at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. She is Chair-elect of SCCM’s Surgery Section. She is Chair of the Trauma Prevention Coalition, a coalition of 15 national and international professional organizations, which collaborate to develop effective strategies in injury/violence prevention and advocacy while minimizing redundant and duplicative activities. She is the immediate past Chair of the American College of Surgeon’s Committee on Trauma Injury Prevention and Control Committee, which developed a consensus-based public health approach to firearm injury prevention. She has grant supported activities in traffic safety, disaster preparedness and firearm injury prevention. She is Co-PI on “Bridging the Gaps: A Multi-Center, Prospective Study on Individual and Community Level Risk Factors for Non-Lethal Firearm Injuries in the U.S.” awarded to the American College of Surgeons by the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research (NCGVR).
