Jose Chavez DNP RN ACCNS-AG CCRN, Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Jose is a CNS over the Cardiac Medical and Surgery Intensive Care Units. He has been a nurse for 14 years, he served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps Reserves as a Critical Care Nurse from 2012 to 2020 where he was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In addition to the Nursing Research Committee he also serves on SCCM’s Quality and Safety Committee and the Thrive Patient and Family Committee. He is the former Chair of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Council at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and prior to being a Chair of the APRN Council, he served as the Critical Care Clinical Practice Council Co-Chair from 2017-2019. He was the team leader on multiple Quality Improvement projects- including: improving rounds communication between CICU RNs and Interdisciplinary team (Medical team, Ethics, Social Worker and Case Manager). Jose and his ICU team at Cedars-Sinai released an instructional video on pronation to assist with the education during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was then published on the American Association of Critical Care Nurses YouTube channel.
