Nicole M. King, MD is a critical care anesthesiologist at the University of Cincinnati. She completed her MD degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine, her anesthesiology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA, and her critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. King volunteered for over a month as an intensivist in the COVID Surge ICUs at NYP/Columbia. Since completing her service in NYC, she has given grand rounds presentations at multiple institutions across the country, detailing her experiences in the NYP Covid ICU.
Dr. King’s main clinical interests include extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), the utilization of echocardiography at the bedside of critically ill patients, high-risk obstetrical care, and the utilization of processes and procedures that improve the quality and safety of care for patients who are most at risk of medical errors. Dr. King is now a key member of the Critical Care Anesthesiology Team (CCAT) that has provided ECMO support to over 80 COVID patients. She is also leading a multi-disciplinary team that will launch a high-fidelity simulation and training program on the obstetrical ward, aiming to reduce the high rate of morbidity and mortality of childbirth in the United States due to post-partum hemorrhage.
A passionate advocate for patients and health care providers, Dr. King is an active blog writer and participant in discussion panels and podcasts on a wide variety of medical topics.
