Dr. Badjatia established the Section of Neurocritical Care in the Program in Trauma and is currently Professor and Academic Vice Chair in the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his Neurology residency at Emory University and training in Neurocritical Care and Vascular Neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Badjatia is an active member of SCCM, elected Fellow in 2011 (FCCM). He has also been an active member and Fellow in the Neurocritical Care Society (FNCS), having served twice on the Board of Directors, as well as Associate Editor for Neurocritical Care from 2009- 2017. He is also an active member and Fellow in the American Neurological Association (FANA). His research interests focus on targeted temperature management strategies, impact of nutrition and metabolism on recovery after subarachnoid hemorrhage, and development of clinical decision support tools in traumatic brain injury using continuous physiologic data. Funding sources for this work includes the National Institute of Health, Department of Defense, and the Neurocritical Care Society.
