Elizabeth Daleen Penoyer, PhD, RN, CCRP, FCNS, FCCM has more than 45 years of nursing experience and has held roles in academia, advanced practice, research, and leadership. Dr. Penoyer is certified as a clinical research professional and is a Fellow Clinical Nurse Specialist and Fellow in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Penoyer serves as the Director for the Center for Nursing Research and Advanced Nursing Practice at Orlando Health in Orlando, Florida. She is an active nurse scientist and consultant for research with nurses and the interdisciplinary team at the organization. Daleen has served SCCM for nearly 30 years as an active volunteer on many initiatives and projects and in leadership positions as Chair of the Nursing Section, Served on the ACCM Board of Regents, and currently Chair of the Nursing Section Research and Scholarship Committee and Co-Chair of the ACCM Guideline development for Detection of Critical Ilness Outside of the ICU. She has received awards from SCCM, including the recipient for the Norma J Shoemaker Research Grant, Norma J Shoemaker Award for Clinical Excellence, Nursing Poster award, Patient and Family Centered Award, and the Shubin-Weil Master Clinician Excellence in Bedside Teaching award. She has many publications in peer-reviewed journals to her credit and speaking engagements at the local, regional, national, and international level. Her research interests are in critical care, detection of clinical deterioration, sepsis, intravenous therapy devices and practices, and prevention of hospital acquired pneumonia.
