Charlene Pringle MSN, CPNP-AC/PC, FCCM graduated from Duke University following dual training in primary and acute care. She has been a practicing pediatric critical care nurse practitioner since 2001. After gaining clinical experience working in the PICUs at Cook Children’s Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center Dallas/UTSW and Wolfson Children’s Hospital, she moved to Gainesville, FL in 2007 to serve as the first PICU advanced practice provider in the division. The service quickly grew and has been well established since that time. In addition to her clinical role as lead APP, she has been fortunate to serve in support of the division’s clinical research program, first as Assistant Director and now as Director since September of 2020.
Charlene's areas of clinical research include pediatric TBI, OHCA and nutrition. She first joined SCCM in 2003, and haas been an active member of the pediatric, nursing and research sections. She joined the Pediatric APP subcommittee in 2003, and served as Chair-elect from 2017-2019, then Chair from 2019-2021. She is also the creator and editor of the PICU Essentials smartphone app.
