I am a faculty member of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. I practice critical care at the innovative Critical Care Resuscitation Unit (CCRU), which specializes in expeditious transfer of critically ill patients. After arriving at the CCRU, the patients will receive timely resuscitation or interventions prior to moving to another intensive care unit within our medical center. At the CCRU, our practice is multi-specialty. I collaborate with different specialty physicians, as soon as a request transfer is made, to provide the optimal plan of care for our patients before they are transferred, while they are transferred and as soon as they arrive at the CCRU. To achieve that results, I work closely with physicians from referring hospitals, critical care transport teams, and intensivists from within our academic medical center to ensure the continuity of care for our patients.
I collaborate with other campuses within the University of Maryland system to form the Research Associate Program in Emergency Medicine & Critical Care. These group of motivated students learn research methodology with hands-on experience while interacting with critically ill patients. A few selected students will represent us to present at regional and nation conferences. Since 2020, members from our program have been collaborating with multidisciplinary faculty within our school of medicine or with faculty from other universities. As such, our members are co-authors of an average of 1-2 peer-reviewed publications per month.
