Robert Walter, MD, DHCE, FACP, FCCP currently serves as Chief, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Prior to completing his undergraduate medical education at the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago, he earned a Master of Arts in Applied Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago and a Doctorate in Healthcare Ethics at Duquesne University. Following completion of his internship/residency in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he pursued fellowship training in Pulmonary Diseases, Sleep Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is a senior member of the Brooke Army Medical Center / 59th Medical Wing ECMO/ALRT Team. He has previously served as Chair of the Healthcare Ethics Committee for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and currently serves as the Chair of the Institutional Bioethics Committee for the San Antonio Military Health System as well as the Consultant for Medical Ethics to the U.S. Army Surgeon General. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Chest Physicians, and is currently serving as a member of the SCCM Ethics Committee.
