Dr. Rodney C. Daniels is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He also serves as Associate Director of the Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation, focusing on conducting and promoting multidisciplinary translational research with an emphasis on engineering and technology collaborations and application. He is a distinguished graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a BS in both Mechanical Engineering and Biology, and after medical school pursued a combined residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics before going on to complete his training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His major research interest is the development of engineering applications and devices for use in critical care, and his current work is focused on the development of a point-of-care platform to measure blood and fluid redox potential and to utilize these measurements in the support and treatment of critical illness and injury, including sepsis/septic shock and multi-organ dysfunction.
