Anna Lewis, LCSW is a senior social worker with the Critical Illness Recovery Center (CIRC) at UPMC Mercy. Her role includes provision of psychotherapy to survivors of critical illness, peer and family support group facilitation, resource connection, international collaboration, and ongoing research initiatives. Anna also works as a research assistant with a collaborative study through the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health and Department of Medicine. Prior to her work in the CIRC, Anna served as the inpatient palliative care social worker at UPMC Mercy through the UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute for several years. She also has experience in the primary care outpatient setting and has served in child welfare and private adoption roles. Anna has presented and co-authored several abstracts and posters for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) Annual Assembly as well as for the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Annual Congress. She is also an active member of the Critical and Acute Illness Recovery Organization (CAIRO), an international consortium of active clinical programs working to advance the practice and science of critical and acute illness recovery. Anna has also provided community education on hospice and palliative care to several local organizations. Anna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2010 and her Master of Social Work degree with a certificate in Mental Health from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012.
