Dr Renee Mary-Alexander Paxton, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP is from Southeast Michigan and obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI in 2004. In 2006, she completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacy (ASHP) Accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at Ascension St John Hospital in Detroit, MI and then completed an ASHP Accredited Critical Care Pharmacy Specialty Residency, in 2007, at Henry Ford Hospital, also in Detroit. She has been a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist since 2006 and a Board- Certified Critical Care Pharmacist since 2015.
Dr. Paxton has been practicing Critical Care Pharmacotherapy for 15 years in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Ascension St John, in Detroit MI. She functions as a consultant in pharmacotherapy to the Surgeons and Intensivists. She leads and contributes to many institutional, regional, and national committees. She has developed many policies, guidelines, and order sets and have helped implement many initiatives to improve Critical Care practices.
Dr. Paxton provides multi-disciplinary education within her local, state, and national institution and outside of her institution. She is also involved in research, which has resulted in many publications and abstract presentations. Lastly, she is involved in many professional organizations both locally, nationally, and internationally.
