Dr. Pedja Kovacevic work as a critical care physician in University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srspka (Bosnia and Herzegovina). And he is the first officially trained pulmonary and critical care specialist in the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina. He participated in the founding of the first and only modern MICU in the entire country (head of MICU since 2014). He was one of the first doctors educated abroad (Germany - University hospital Heidelberg, and USA - Mayo Clinic Rochester) in the post-war period of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After returning to the country he participated in the development of all links of intensive care in the country, from the treatment process (he founded ECMO center B&H - MICU in University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska), to education (he developed the first intensive care curriculum and mentoring more than ten doctors to become specialists in intensive care), to the development of research in intensive care mentored (five Ph.D. students). He is the founder of the first association of intensivists of B&H, which was recognized by the ESICM, and he is a member of SCCM, CHEST and ESICM. He became the FCCP in 2019. He gave a large number of lectures both at the local level and regionally, and this activity came to the fore especially during the pandemic of COVID 19. Dr Pedja Kovacevic is well recognized critical care physician in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region of Former Yugoslavia.
