Teresa Rincon PhD, RN, CCRN-K, FCCM, Sr. Telehealth Consultant at Blue Cirrus Consulting and Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Nursing, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, is an expert in strategic planning, implementation, and analysis of system design of telehealth and acute and critical care service-lines. Her areas of interest include sepsis, nursing practice, advocacy, knowledge management, social determinants of health (SDOH), quality improvement, clinical decision support systems, build and use of electronic health records (EHRs), management of big datasets, use of machine learning algorithms, human factors science, and information visualization. Current work efforts include business plan and clinical service development for Telehealth in EMS/ambulance services for a national company and assistance with optimization of mental health services in Appalachian counties using telehealth tools. She has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed manuscripts and several textbook chapters. Recent published research and in process efforts include (but is not limited to) examination of critical care nurse perceptions of TJC standards surrounding titratable medications, updating of Tele-critical care nursing consensus statements with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), a systematic review of Machine Learning in Nursing, and Tele-Critical Care recommendations using Delphi methods with an SCCM multidisciplinary team. She was instrumental in starting the SCCM TeleICU Committee in 2006 and is a member of the SCCM Nursing and Research Sections. She is also part of the Steering Group for the SCCM Data Science in Intensive Care Medicine KEG (Knowledge Education Group). For her work in critical care and telehealth, Dr. Rincon was accepted as a Fellow in the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s (SCCM) American College of Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) in 2014. She has received numerous awards and is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
