I am a senior fellow in the Division of Critical Care Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. I completed my residency in the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. I have a background in Microbiology and Immunology (BSc, University of British Columbia) and Epidemiology and Statistics (MPH, Columbia University).
My academic interest is in health services research, specifically in resource utilization and patient-centered outcomes. I am interested in the cumulative morbidities following critical illness in children, optimizing rehabilitation to minimize ICU stays, and long-term outcomes of ICU patients after discharge. My current research uses large publicly available databases to determine the availability of inpatient post-acute care for children and to describe the characteristics of patients utilizing such resources. This project was inspired by an interest in patient rehabilitation and witnessing discharges that are delayed by a lack of disposition options for patients following critical illness.
