Kayla Bronder Phelps, MD, MPH, is a third-year fellow in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She attended Tulane University for undergraduate. After college, she spent one year in rural Kenya working with the most marginalized of the community in collaboration with local public health officials and community. Dr. Phelps then returned to Tulane University to complete a joint degree in Medicine and Public Health. She also completed a one-year fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention studying Epidemiology in the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity. After medical school, Dr. Phelps moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at Michigan Medicine. Her interests include health disparities impacting pediatric patients and she hopes to focus her career on identifying and, more importantly, reducing these health disparities. She has accepted a faculty position at Children's Hospital of New Orleans with LSU School of Medicine.
