Parth Patel is a medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, currently on a scholarly year between his third and fourth year of medical school. He is originally from New Jersey and attended New York University for his undergraduate, where he majored in Anthropology before coming to ISMMS. During his scholarly year, Parth is pursuing research in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital. His research projects focus on assessing failure to rescue after cardiac surgery with an emphasis on outcomes after post-operative cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, and temporary mechanical circulatory support. In addition to his research, his other interests include health disparities, global and community health, global surgery, and medical education. He has co-designed and implemented innovative curriculums in global health and cardiac surgery at ISMMS. Parth hopes to pursue a future career in academic cardiac surgery.
