Zac Aldewereld, MD is an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and attending physician at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in the Divisions of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. He completed a pediatrics residency and the first year of a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern McGaw Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine and the second year of pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Following completion of his training, he joined Pitt Pediatrics and Critical Care Medicine as Assistant Professor. Dr. Aldewereld is primarily interested in using computational techniques to better understand the heterogeneity of sepsis in children. Additionally, he is involved in various stewardship initiatives focused on the pediatric intensive care unit and has a specific interest in infectious diseases in immunocompromised hosts.
