Dr. Ami Shah is a board-certified critical care pharmacy specialist practicing in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at Mount Sinai Morningside Medical Center. Ami received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Rutgers University in 2015. Post-graduation, Ami completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Abington-Jefferson Health and a PGY-2 Critical Care residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Following residency training, Dr. Shah served as a Critical Care Specialist in the Medical/Surgical ICU at UPMC Pinnacle. During this time, she piloted the expansion of ICU services within in-network hospitals, helped establish pharmacy specialist services in the Emergency Department, served as an MSICU preceptor, and participated in various hospital committees. Dr. Shah joined Mount Sinai Morningside Medical Center in 2018 as their first Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit Pharmacy Specialist. In this role, she oversees the pharmaceutical care of CTICU patients and serves as part of various critical care, pharmacy, and cardiac surgery committees. Dr. Shah is heavily involved in research and project management. She has been awarded the Eleanor Widener Dixon Research Award Recipient for her research efforts, making her the first non-physician to be awarded this distinction. Dr. Shah is also actively engaged in teaching and precepting. Dr. Shah completed the Teaching and Learning Certificate program with the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and has served as adjunct professor and guest lecturer for various schools of pharmacy. Dr. Shah is actively involved in developing medical education, presenting at pharmacy/medical society meetings, serving as a journal peer-reviewer, and publishing various book chapters, review articles, and original research. Dr. Shah is also heavily involved in local and national pharmacy/medical leadership organizations. In her free time, Ami serves as a contracted dancer with professional dance companies within the tristate area, enjoys exploring new restaurants, and values spending time with family and friends.
