Julia Slovis is an attending physician in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Julia performs translational research in the large animal laboratory within the Center for Pediatric Resuscitation, working with animal model development to study brain injury in a swine model of prolonged cardiac arrest followed by ECMO rescue. She has also studied the effects on the systemic and cerebral vasculature of vasopressors during cardiac arrest. Julia is interested in using translational research methods with advanced techniques in neuromonitoring, mitochondrial and molecular analyses, neuroimaging, and neurobehavioral evaluation and to better understand the neurologic effects of cardiac arrest and ECMO technology. She completed her pediatric critical care fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 2020, her residency in General Pediatrics at the New York Presbyterian Columbia Children's hospital in 2017, and medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2014. She received her BA in 2009 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
