Sheila J. Hanson, MD, MS is a professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children's Wisconsin Critical Care Section. She has cultivated a strong clinical interest in coagulopathy and blood usage, and performs nationally-recognized active research in diagnosis and management of thrombosis and bleeding in critically ill or injured children. She has been instrumental in the development of national guidelines in the area of management of pediatric thrombosis in hospitalized children and prevention of thrombosis in children after trauma. Dr. Hanson participates in multi-center and multi-specialty collaborations through BloodNET and the Pediatric Trauma Society to advance the evidence needed to optimize care for these critically ill children.
