Saul Flores, MD, provides care for patients with congenital and acquired heart disease requiring critical care at Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Flores completed training in Cardiology, Critical Care and Cardiac Critical Care at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Flores' research focuses on understanding stress response mechanisms after cardiopulmonary bypass for cardiac surgery in children focusing on the interaction between cortisol and thyroid hormone and their receptors. Dr. Flores is also an active educator as he is part of the Baylor College of Medicine Faculty College, a program developed to foster educational leaders. Dr. Flores was recently awarded the Texas Children's Hospital Educational Scholarship Award to develop an educational platform using principles of meaningful gamification to accelerate the learning-to-mastery for early pediatric cardiology learners.
