Michele LeClaire, MD, MSc is affiliated with Hennepin Health and the University of Minnesota
Clinically, she is a Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep physician. She joined Hennepin Healthcare in 2012 drawn by a desire to teach and to work more closely with trainees. Dr. LeClaire is the Senior Medical Director for Critical Care Service Line and Chief Wellness Officer. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and was awarded the Clinical Excellence award at Hennepin Healthcare in 2018. Additionally, Prior to joining Hennepin Healthcare Dr. LeClaire spent eight years in private practice affiliated with North Memorial Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Dr. LeClaire is passionate about wellness work; she has been pursuing this research interest through the Office of Professional Work Life (OPW) at Hennepin Healthcare. She has studied burnout in the ICU settings at Hennepin Healthcare. She is also studying moral distress for frontline staff and how to mitigate it in the COVID era. Dr. LeClaire has a special interest in organizational change to promote wellness, including the role of leadership training in augmenting wellness.
A native Minnesotan, Dr. LeClaire attended the University of Minnesota medical school, followed by Internal Medicine Residency, Chief Residency, and Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship. She holds a Master of Clinical Research degree from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.
