Annie Johnson, APRN, ACNP-BC, FCCM is a nurse practitioner in Critical Care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Ms. Johnson joined the staff of Mayo Clinic in 2003 and holds the academic rank of instructor in surgery, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
Ms. Johnson earned her B.S.N. at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, and her M.S.N. as an acute care nurse practitioner at Allen College in Waterloo, Iowa. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing at the University of Minnesota.
Ms. Johnson developed and directs the Mayo Clinic ICU Recovery Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This multidisciplinary program consists of a face-to-face peer support group, an online support group, as well as an outpatient ICU recovery clinic. She has authored peer-review journal articles, as well as editorials and other written publications.
In recognition of her work, Ms. Johnson received the Gerstner Award for Specialized Education for Nursing Practitioners and Physician Assistants. She is also a recipient of the Presidential Citation Award, conferred by the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Midwest Clinical Practice Committee Innovation Award, conferred by Mayo Clinic. Ms. Johnson was inducted as a Fellow of Critical Care Medicine through SCCM in February, 2020.
In addition to her clinical activities, Ms. Johnson is an executive and founding member of the Critical and Acute Illness Recovery Organization (CAIRO). She previously served as the co-chair of SCCMs THRIVE peer support collaborative, and brings that experience to her current role as the co-chair of the CAIRO peer support collaborative.
