Nathan Dismang is a third year medical student at the Kansas University School of Medicine. His research interests primarily revolve around critical care and emergency medicine, which has led to his work within Kansas University Medical Center's pulmonary and critical care division. When the pandemic hit, Nathan searched for ways to help as a medical student and soon became heavily involved in his institution's SCCM VIRUS: COVID19 registry. One area of research that specifically interests him is the repurposing of existing therapeutics in the treatment of COVID19. This led to his retrospective work involving colchicine and the prevention of ARDS in COVID19. Nathan is also involved in establishing a pulmonary hypertension patient biorepository at Kansas University Medical Center. Nathan plans to apply for emergency medicine residency in the fall of 2022. As he progresses through his medical training, Nathan plans to continue pursuing research in critical care and emergency medicine that aligns with his evolving career interests.
