Ramesh Adhikari is a Geriatrician and Hospitalist from Lafayette, Indiana. He works at Franciscan Health Lafayette East, Crawfordville, and Rensselaer hospitals.
Dr. Adhikari completed an Internal Medicine residency from Seton Hall University- St Francis Hospital and a fellowship in Geriatrics from Brown University, Providence. He is a senior fellow in Hospital Medicine.
He co-founded the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) Indiana Chapter. For the last four years, he served in various capacities, including Vice president and President of the Society of Hospital Medicine, Indiana Chapter. He is currently the immediate past president for SHM Indiana Chapter. He is also a member of the National SHM Digital learning committee and part of the COVID 19 learning Series for SHM. He serves on the Editorial advisory board for The Hospitalist magazine. His research interests are the comanagement of Hip fracture in elderly patients and Covid 19 hospitalizations.
He is passionate about healthcare advocacy and is a strong advocate for rural healthcare access and physicians in permanent residency backlog. He is an Executive Member of the National Physicians organization - Physicians for American Health care access and worked with Senators Dick Durbin (Illinois)) and Indiana Senator Todd Young's office for sponsoring The Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act Bill that helps Immigrant physicians and nurses during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
