Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Pediatric Intensivist
Children's Hospital Colorado
Aurora, CO
Blake Martin M.D. is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and pediatric critical care physician at Children's Hospital Colorado. He received his B.A. in astrophysics at Princeton University and his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his pediatrics residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program (Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center) before moving back to his home state of Colorado to complete his fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
His research interests include the application of machine learning and predictive modeling within the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) to optimize patient care decisions. He has developed multiple predictive models aimed at identifying critically ill and injured children without serious bacterial infections with the goal of reducing unnecessary antibiotic administration within the PICU. This work is supported by a Thrasher Research Fund early career award and an institutional research scholar award, and he is currently working to translate these predictive models into actionable clinical decision support tools able to drive improvements in antibiotic decision-making in the PICU.
