MD/PhD Candidate
The Ottawa Hospital And University Of Ottawa
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
I am an MD/PhD candidate at the University of Ottawa and Ottawa Hospital Research Institute in Ottawa, Canada. My multidisciplinary thesis combines clinical research methodology with basic science techniques to study the pharmacokinetics and efficacy of a novel stem cell therapy in acute lung injury. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I spearheaded a new project with hopes of developing a novel animal model of COVID-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome by using vesiculovirus expressing the SARS-CoV2 spike protein. The aim of this project was to enable more widespread development of vaccines and therapeutics to combat this global pandemic. I am honored to be funded as a Vanier Scholar and Canadian Vascular Network Scholar for my doctorate, and was selected as one of this year’s STAR Research Presenters for the Critical Care Congress 2022.
