Staff Sergeant Shelby Lucas is the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge for the Cardiology Department, 81st Medical Operations Squadron, 81st Medical Group, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. She leads 26 personnel and overseas all department operations generating $21M annually supporting 64,000 federal beneficiaries. SSgt Lucas serves as a Registered Respiratory Therapist within the Cardiopulmonary Laboratory Career Field supporting the 81st Medical Group’s Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department and two in-patient wards. Lastly, SSgt Lucas supports the Aeromedical Evacuation mission as a Critical Care Air Transport Team respiratory therapist. In this role she transports critical patients by air to higher echelons of care in the deployment and humanitarian setting.
