Philip T.H. Dela Cruz, MD is a PGY1 Internal Medicine resident at UHS SoCal MEC and a graduate of the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences. His interest in Critical Care Medicine was first nurtured as a third year medical student at GWU, when he was first exposed to Critical Care research. From the beginning of the COVID pandemic to the present, he has actively participated in COVID research with his home institutions. He continued to nurture his passion for Critical Care during a research year at GWU, where he actively worked with the Critical Care Department in industry funded clinical trials involving sepsis, AKI, and Staph aureus bacteremia. His areas of interest include point-of-care ultrasound, the integration of palliative medicine with critical care, COVID, and as a Native Hawaiian, improving representation of Native and Indigenous people in Medicine. He is continuing his training as an Internal Medicine resident at UHS SoCal MEC and intends to pursue continued subspecialty training in Critical Care Medicine.
