Fluid resuscitation remains a cornerstone of burn care but there is still some controversy as to how best to resuscitate burn patients. We have seen both under- and overresuscitation and the complications that come with them. Speakers will discuss traditional burn resuscitation, complications of burn resuscitation, the use of decision support systems in burn resuscitation, and the use of fluids other than lactated Ringer solution in burn patients.

Learning Objectives:

Review traditional burn resuscitation
Recognize fluid creep and complications of overresuscitation and describe computerized decision support systems for burn resuscitation
Describe other modalities of burn resuscitation such as hypertonic saline, fresh frozen plasma, and vitamin C
